VIETNAM AIRLINES OPERATES FIRST INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT SINCE COVID-19

The first regular international flight officially to Vietnam since the Covid-19 pandemic landed safely at Tan Son Nhat Airport, Ho Chi Minh City at 6:45pm tonight. Flight VN852 from Phnom Penh (Cambodia) to Ho Chi Minh City, operated by VNA.

The official flight marked the regular opening of international airports, restoring Vietnam's aviation industry to the world and opening the prospect of a strong recovery in aviation and tourism after the pandemic.

The flight is a part of the plan to restore regular international flights with high safety factors, starting from January 1, 2022, which has been approved by the Government. This policy aims to restore international passenger transport activities; promote the process of economic recovery, tourism; not let Vietnam be behind other countries in the region; create conditions for Vietnamese citizens to return to their homeland in the coming Lunar New Year.

The aviation authorities have urgently negotiated the resumption of regular flights in early January 2022 to many countries and territories in the region.

With VN852 flight  VNA is the first airline to carry out international flights according to this plan. The flight carried 121 passengers who meet the regulations of negative test result, getting vaccinated or recovering from Covid-19 pandemic before departure.

VNA maintains preventive measures for flights, such as disinfecting aircraft, simplifying services to limit repeated contact, etc. All the passengers are required to conduct personal health monitoring and isolated in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Health when landing.

After the flight between Vietnam and Cambodia today, VNA's next scheduled international flights are between Vietnam and Japan on January 5, 2022; between Vietnam and the United States on January 9, 2022. Currently, VNA is offering international flight tickets to and from Vietnam on its website, mobile application, ticket offices and official agents.

VNA has announced a plan to reopen regular international flights between Vietnam and 15 countries and territories in the first half of 2022. The resumption of routes will be implemented in two phases.

In phase 2, VNA plans to restore more round trip routes between Vietnam and the UK, France, Germany, Russia, Australia, Hong Kong (China), Malaysia. The plan may change according to the approval, implementation of the authorities and the evolution of the pandemic.
