VIAGS Da Nang welcomes Myanmar Airways International (8M) on its new Da Nang – Yangon route.

On the evening of April 2, 2025, VIAGS Da Nang Branch warmly welcomed the inaugural regular flight of Myanmar Airways International (8M) on the direct Yangon – Da Nang route, a significant step in enhancing air connectivity between Vietnam and Myanmar.

Arriving flight 8M454 landed at Da Nang International Airport at 19:07, carrying 113 passengers from Myanmar eager to explore the city. The return flight, 8M455, departed at 20:25, carrying 24 passengers to Yangon.

Mrs. Hoang Thi Ngoc Hanh – Deputy Director of VIAGS Da Nang, along with staff members, presented flowers to congratulate the 8M representatives and extended best wishes on the occasion of the route inauguration.

The welcoming ceremony was attended by representatives from the Embassy of Myanmar, the Da Nang Department of Tourism, the Da Nang International Airport, and numerous partner organizations, highlighting the mutual interest and enthusiasm for expanding Da Nang's international aviation network.

Notably, three fortunate passengers on the flight received special gifts — round-trip flight vouchers for the Yangon – Da Nang route, presented by the 8M representatives. Myanmar is located in Southeast Asia, with a population exceeding 50 million, approximately 90% of whom follow Buddhism. The top 5 destinations favored by Myanmar travelers include China, Thailand, India, Vietnam, and Singapore.

The new route will be operated twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, utilizing modern Embraer E190 aircraft, along with A319 and A320 types. These are flexible aircraft types suitable for operating on regional routes.

The Yangon-Da Nang route's inauguration is a milestone, establishing direct air links between Da Nang and eight of the ten Southeast Asian nations, including Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, and Myanmar. Aligned with its strategic direction of diversifying international markets, Da Nang's tourism sector expects to further expand its international route network, connecting the beautiful coastal city with destinations worldwide.
